The Saint Peter’s Nuraghe is one of the most important prehistoric monument present in the areas of Baronia and Bassa Gallura. It is located in Torpè, only a few km away from Camping Ermosa.
It went through three constructive and residential periods. The first two phases started and ended during the II Millennium B.C. when the inhabitants left and they suddenly abandoned the settlement. The third period started at the end of Ist century A.C., during the Roman domination, when one of the towers was used as a barn.
The Nuraghe was built with big blocks of unrefined, red rock and it was restored around 30 years ago. During the excavation, pottery has been found and it is currently kept and preserved at the Archaeological Museum of Nuoro.
